Citycar is a radical new approach to the urban automobile. instead of a large engine displacing power to rotate a drive shaft, the city car uses four individual motors on each wheel. This format allows smaller electric motors to be used reducing weight and the need for gas. The city car also simplifies the design and system of movable parts found in the typical car, making it easier to produce and at a lower cost. MIT is also looking into making the car fold able and portable so that commuters can one day pick there cars up and bring them inside there offices reducing the need for parking spaces.
